Who are we?

Reflections: Nelson Croom’s Online Learning Blog is your opportunity to get to know the personalities behind Nelson Croom a bit better. It also gives us a forum to discuss and express our ideas and opinions about online learning, comment on the latest news and tell you about our latest developments. We’re passionate about online learning and creating effective learning content. Some would even say that we’re evangelical.

So who are we? As a company, we create online learning that is flexible, creative and relevant to you – whether you’re a dental implantologist, an accountant or a drug and alcohol practitioner. We publish online learning courses as well as creating bespoke solutions for clients.

As individuals, we’ve set up and run successful academic educational publishing companies; we’ve developed systems for storing and accessing information; we’ve commissioned, developed and structured a wide range of content material and we’ve spent time on our feet as trainers.

Here is some more detail on the names and faces that you’ll see posting on this blog:

Alan Alan Nelson is co-founder of Nelson Croom, which he has run for the last 8 years. Previously Alan had spent the last 15 years in educational publishing. He has been at the forefront of developing learning materials on the web.

David David Croom is Chairman and co-founder of Nelson Croom. David’s special interest is the application of online learning in the third and health sectors.

Jacqui Jacqui Nelson has worked in various senior roles in the publishing and corporate learning market. Jacqui is almost evangelical about the benefits of the services Nelson Croom offers.

Tony Tony Short is our technological guru. He has been involved in the production and publication of learning materials since 1978, spanning both print-based and computer-based publishing.

Angela Angela Smith designs and builds learning activities, working with content to edit the language and structure of courses. Angela's alter ego is Angela Cleland, a published poet.

Nicola Nicola Dann has thirteen years’ experience designing, writing and managing the production of training materials for a varied learner base across different subjects.

Hamish Hamish Long is responsible for the interactive design of our programmes, using graphics and effects to produce a visually appealing and engaging experience for the users.

Katy Katy Hillary transforms content for learners, and designs and builds learning activities. Katy was previously working from her home office in County Down, but has recently re-joined the team in London.

Rachel Rachel Bruce works on a range of special projects with particular involvement in the development of our range of published courses for professional development, accounting and finance and publishing.

Vic Victoria Clarke works on our communications and marketing. She's responsible for letting the world know about Nelson Croom's services, and keeping abreast of what's happening in the industry.
